Why the Preparation Matters
ENEM – the National Exam – is the entrance exam that decides who gets a place at a Brazilian university, much like the SATs in the USA or A-Levels in the UK. For young people from the favela, passing it opens the door to higher education and better job prospects.
But public schools are underfunded and often of poor quality, which leaves their students at a real disadvantage on exam day.
