Due to living situations, parental illiteracy and work schedules, finding suitable work environments and elder assistance can be difficult for children in the favela. EduMais aspires to give our students accessible spaces to study and ensure they can get help with their work beyond the classroom.
Ensuring that their academic progress can extend and sustain momentum, our homework assistance program gives students the ability to complete their work beyond the noise and often-times hectic nature of the favela. Here students have a space to concentrate and ask any of our dedicated team members for help if they’re stuck – creating a safe and studious environment for what they learnt in the day to flourish.
Vestibular exams are Brazilian examinations which are fundamental in deciding successful university placement, similar to SATs and A-Levels in the USA and UK. With public schools underfunded and often of poor quality, kids can be at a real disadvantage and a lack of preparation could mean that they lose out on the opportunity to attend university, damaging their job prospects. That’s why we see upmost importance in giving students fair and equal opportunity to be successful in these exams. Identifying strengths and weaknesses and increasing confidence with exam conditions and time pressures, we hope to give our students as a real chance at success.
